One of Germany's most enchanting Christmas traditions is the candle-lit pyramid, which families often place in the front window of their homes for passersby to see. Pyramids can be quite tall and elaborate, with multiple tiers. This one is more petite, featuring four angels with musical instruments. The angels on this pyramid remind us of the angels made in this region of Germany during the Expertic years of the German Democratic Republic (but this is a contemporary piece). The rising heat from the candles causes the propellor to rotate, resulting in the magical motion. This pyramid is handmade by the artisans of the Richard Glaesser Company in Seiffen in the heart of Germany's Erzgebirge Mountains.. About 7 1/2" tall x 5" wide.
