I remember the first time I read Old Christmas by Washington Irving: It was a 19th century edition I had checked out from the university library and I was so enthralled with it, I'd even bring it to work with me so I could read it during breaks from my job (which happened to be scooping ice cream). I got tired of ice cream pretty quickly, but I've never tired of Washington Irving's ways of spinning a tale.

This Christmas card pulls a lovely quote from one of Washington Irving's Christmas tales in that book: "Christmas is the season for kindling the fire of hospitality in the hall, the genial flame of charity in the heart." Paired with a lovely old picture, it is everything we love about Washington Irving's romance and longing for connection with an idyllic past.
