Aye, Matey: You may call our iconic peg leg pirate LJ, if you wish (short for Long John Silver, the famous wooden-legged pirate in Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island). He comes complete with a parrot in one hand and a treasure map in the other, a spiffy hat of cloth and wood, an eyepatch, and, of course, the peg leg (not to mention a treasure chest). He also happens to be pretty handy cracking nuts. Handmade by artisans at the Christian Ulbricht Company (they've been making nutcrackers by hand in Germany's Erzgebirge Mountains, where wooden nutcrackers first originated, since 1928).

This is a large working nutcracker (the lever in back operates his jaws), made by hand of solid natural finish and beautifully glazed woods. Traditional swashbuckler garb from his tricorne hat to his buckled boot. Faux fur hair and mustache. About 16" tall x 8" wide x 6" deep. Handmade in Germany.
