Traditional Advent Candles, Box of 4, from Germany
The traditional Advent observance revolves around a ring of four candles: three purple candles and one rose candle, arranged in a ring, or circle. The circle, of course, has no beginning and no end. We light one purple candle on the First Sunday of Advent; this candle represents Hope. On the Second Sunday of Advent, two purple candles are illuminated: the original one and a new one, representing Peace. On the Third Sunday of Advent we add to those the rose candle, symbolizing Joy (hence the name for the day, Gaudete Sunday). And on the Fourth Sunday of Advent, a third purple candle is illuminated, as well, this one representing Love. With all four candles illuminated the Advent wreath shines brightest, just as the longest, darkest nights of the year are upon us, and Christmas, we know, is not far away.
This beautifully boxed set of four Advent Candles is made in Germany and comes to us from our friends at Northern Lights. Each box contains the traditional Advent candles: one rose and three purple tapers. These are 12" tall tapers, smokeless and dripless (as long as they are burnt in a draft-free environment), that fit all standard taper candle holders (including our metal taper holders, which you may arrange in a circle to create the traditional Advent Ring). Fragrance free paraffin; long lasting, with 30% more wax than standard tapers. Burn time approximately 12 hours each.
As with all candles, take care in use. Burn in a draft-free spot, and do not burn unattended.
