Mexican Nativity in Creche

  • 9700

Mexicans (and we Italians) love nativity scenes at Christmas. Artisan Saul Montesinos has been making Day of the Dead style nativities for us for years now, but now, Senor Montesinos decided to go more traditional. This new creche features a most recognizable Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, an ox and and an ass, and an angel. It's just like our super popular Dia de los Muertos nativity, only no one is a skeleton. There is a hook in back so the nativity may be hung on a wall, if you wish, but it also stands on its own.  Senor Montesinos makes each of these nativities by hand in Puebla, Mexico. About 4.5" tall x 5" wide x 2" deep, and quite hefty: it's made of clay and wire and weighs about a pound. Colors will vary according to Sr. Montesinos' whim; no two are alike.
