German Nutcracker : Large Bavarian with Conical Hat, Natural Finish
We see these conical hats each year at Oktoberfest and maybe this year, we'll find out their proper name. It's a great hat, isn't it? This Bavarian, with his Hoffbrau Haus beer stein in one hand and a pretzel in the other, is handmade by artisans of the Christian Ulbricht Company; they've been making nutcrackers by hand in Germany's Erzgebirge Mountains, where wooden nutcrackers first originated, since 1928. Made from natural finish woods; perfect from Oktoberfest to Christmas (and to be honest, he'd be welcome in any home all the year round).
This is a working nutcracker (the lever in back operates his jaws), made by hand of solid natural finish and hand painted woods. This Bavarian's beard and dark hair are lush faux fur. Over 17" tall to the top of his conical cap, about 6 1/2" wide and 5 1/4" deep. Handmade in Germany.
