The Room of Crosses: Collected and Retold by John Cutrone

  • 17800

A Florida folktale, of sorts, with a pure and simple message: that perhaps things aren't as bad as we think. This is a small and simple prayer-size book with naive pen and ink illustrations by the author. We offer this handmade book in both a regular edition and a deluxe edition. The deluxe edition is letterpress printed form handset metal types on handmade cotton rag and jute Twinrocker papers, then bound by hand in full leather in the French Reliure Simplifiée (Simplified Binding) style. The endpapers are handmade Fabriano Roma. Numbers 1 through 35 comprise the deluxe edition.

The regular edition is letterpress printed from handset metal types on Frankfurt cotton rag paper, then bound by hand and cased inside full cloth-covered boards with the same blue handmade Fabriano Roma endsheets we used in the deluxe edition. A printed label completes the package. Numbers 36 through125 comprise the regular edition.

Both editions are 24 pages, printed late 2004. Regular edition $125. The deluxe edition on handmade paper and full leather, housed in a chitsu box, is $450. Unbound sheets for bookbinders are available, as well: regular edition $85, handmade paper edition $125. We tend to bind these books as they are ordered, so delivery may not necessarily be quick; good things, however, come to those who wait.
