German Springtime Pyramid: Gänseliesel

  • 12000

One of Germany's most enchanting Christmas traditions is the candle-lit pyramid, which families often place in the front window of their homes for passersby to see, and now the artisans of the Erzgebirge are making pyramids for springtime, too. Pyramids can be quite tall and elaborate (especially the Christmas ones), with multiple tiers. This one is more petite, featuring a girl, whose name is Liesel, tending to a flock of geese and their hatchlings. It's delightfully colorful. The rising heat from the illuminated tea light causes the multicolor propellor to rotate, resulting in the magical motion. Handmade in Germany by Kordula & Ronald Graupner, who call this pyramid "Gänseliesel"... you might think of it as "Elizabeth with the Geese". About 5 1/2" tall x 5" wide x 2" deep. It comes with one tea light, and you can refill with any standard tea light, including the ones we offer: Our tea lights are also made in Germany, and are available in packages of 36 or in boxes of 12.
