Balthasar is one of vintage German nutcrackers made by the Steinbach company. They made nutcrackers by hand for seven generations in Germany's Erzgebirge Mountains, where wooden nutcrackers first originated. Steinbach nutcrackers are dense, heavy, and exquisitely made. Balthasar is stout and chubby with a cute button nose and a jeweled horn and a beautiful gold crown. He stands about 12" tall and is signed by Karolin Steinbach. Handmade in Germany.
