Lars Own Swedish Saft: Elderflower

Lars Own Swedish Saft: Elderflower

  • 1900

Each summer in Sweden and Norway, berries, as they ripen, or sometimes flower blooms, are cooked down with sugar to create a concentrated syrup known as saft. The saft is then bottled and ready to use for refreshing drinks all year long. This is Lars Own Elderflower Saft (so this one is indeed made from flower blooms, not fruit), imported from Sweden.

To use, mix 1 part saft with 5 parts cold water as a basis. Adjust the water, more or less, to your taste, but 1:5 is a good starting point. Serve over ice for a refreshing beverage. You may also use sparkling water, of course, if you prefer a fizzy drink. And there are endless possibilities, too, using saft and spirits to make your own unique Nordic cocktail.

16.9 oz (500 ml) of saft, packed in a glass bottle with a screw top cap. Refrigerate after opening.

Ingredients: Sugar, elderflower extract, water, lemon juice, and citric acid.
