The Pilgrim Pumpkin Rhyme

  • 5700

This piece of New England doggerel in honor of the most venerable of the squashes was anonymously penned by a Plymouth Plantation colonist in the late 1600s. Printed letterpress on an antique iron handpress (a 19th century Washington style Wesel Handpress) on thick, downright luxurious English Somerset paper in an edition of 150. The illustration is from an 1885 engraving of the French varietal pumpkin, Rouge Vif d'Etampes, knows as the Cinderella Pumpkin. A most elegant broadside. 11" x 17", 1999.

This broadside is currently not available framed.
