German Christmas Cookies: Bahlsen Festive Classics
Here's a lovely assortment of traditional German Christmas cookies from Bahlsen. Here's what's included (a few of each): Gingerbread Pretzel (lebkuchen covered in dark chocolate); Mini Contessa Lebkuchen (bite size lebkucken gingerbread sitting upon a dark chocolate sitting upon a dark chocolate, base); Gingerbread (plain and simple lebkuchen); Akora Full Milk (filled gingerbread hearts, covered in milk chocolate); Cinnamon Star (fine hazelnut cinnamon biscuits); Akora Edelherb (filled gingerbread hearts, covered in dark chocolate), and in the center of the box: pure milk chocolate.
Just over a pound of deliciousness: 17.6 oz (500 grams). Imported from Germany. Made by Bahlsen, a German family business in Hannover since 1889.
Ingredients: Sugar, wheat flour, cocoa mass, hazelnuts, glucose-fructose syrup, invert sugar syrup, apple puree, cocoa butter, ground apricot kernels, stabilizer (sorbitol), skimmed milk powder, caramel sugar syrup, orange peel, wheat starch, apricot puree concentrate, milk, butter fat, glucose syrup, raising agents: ammonium carbonate, potassium carbonate, diphosphate, sodium carbonate; egg white powder, palm oil, spices, cinnamon, lactose, emulsifier (soya lecithin), apple extract, citric acid, flavors, pectin, whole egg powder. Contains wheat, milk, tree nuts, eggs. May contain almonds, pistachios.
The cocoa used is 100% UTZ Certified. Its origin can be traced from the manufacturer to the cultivation fields by the Dutch organization UTZ and this seal guarantees the cocoa used was grown using socially, ecologically, and economically sustainable practices.
