Mexican Day of the Dead Nativity in Creche

Mexican Day of the Dead Nativity in Creche

  • 6900

Mexicans (and we Italians) love nativity scenes at Christmas. This set is made entirely in the Dia de Muertos calavera style, just like our crazy-popular 13-piece Day of the Dead nativity. This one, however, is housed in a colorful painted creche. Six figures are affixed to the barn: Mary, Joseph, the baby Jesus, an angel, and two barn animals. There is a hook in back so the nativity may be hung on a wall, if you wish, but it also stands on its own. Made by hand by artisan Saul Montesinos in Puebla, Mexico. About 4.5" tall x 5" wide x 2" deep, and quite hefty: it's made of clay and wire and weighs about a pound. Colors will vary according to Sr. Montesinos' whim; no two are alike. Definitely one of the most unusual nativity scenes you'll find, perfect for the Día de Muertos enthusiast.
