Mexican Day of the Dead Nativity in Creche
Mexicans (and we Italians) love nativity scenes at Christmas. This set is made entirely in the Dia de Muertos calavera style, just like our crazy-popular 13-piece Day of the Dead nativity. This one, however, is housed in a colorful painted creche. Six figures are affixed to the barn: Mary, Joseph, the baby Jesus, an angel, and two barn animals. There is a hook in back so the nativity may be hung on a wall, if you wish, but it also stands on its own. Made by hand by artisan Saul Montesinos in Puebla, Mexico. About 4.5" tall x 5" wide x 2" deep, and quite hefty: it's made of clay and wire and weighs about a pound. Colors will vary according to Sr. Montesinos' whim; no two are alike. Definitely one of the most unusual nativity scenes you'll find, perfect for the Día de Muertos enthusiast or any collector of nativity scenes.
