Krampus Brooch, Handmade in Detroit

  • 1600

We're not crazy about the invasive iguanas that roam our yard, eating the plants in our vegetable garden, but we are rather fond of the good folks at The Divine Iguana in Detroit, Michigan. They make elegant yet delightfully quirky jewelry there by hand in their home studio. This unsettling brooch features Krampus, the dark companion of St. Nicholas who travels with the good saint each year on St. Nicholas's Eve, December 5. In German tradition, it is Krampus's job to deal with the kids who have not been so well behaved. So you'd better be good, lest Krampus carry you off by the ears! This is one of three different Krampus brooches we offer from our Divine Iguana friends.

About the size of a quarter, which makes this brooch not quite as large as most items you'd call a brooch, but the bronze setting definitely takes it a step above what you'd call a pin. So... we're sticking with "brooch."

Reverse decoupage glass cabochon. This brooch is 1 1/4" wide (as we said: about the size of a US quarter); the image area is 3/4". Gift boxed. As these are handmade, expect some variations.
