This is a premium licorice from Sweden, where they spell the English translation "liquorice." It's gluten free, as it is made from rice flour, rather than from wheat flour. Packaged in a small box that slips easily into a pocket (or, for that matter, a Christmas stocking). This is the sweet version; we also have Lakrtisfabriken's traditional Swedish salty licorice. 1.4 ounces (40 grams).

Ingredients: Syrup, rice flour, sugar, water, invert sugar syrup, liquorice (6%), rice starch, humectants (sorbitol), salt, aroma, glazing agent (coconut oil, carnauba wax). Vegan, Kosher, non-GMO. Contains wheat, gluten.

Please note that this product's packaging includes the following printed California Proposition 65 warning: "This product may contain Arsenic, Cadmium, or Lead, known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. (For more information go to https://www.p65warnings.ca.gov/)." Licorice, just like green tea, chili, and tamarind, is known to contain some amount of lead and other metals because of the presence of these metals in the atmosphere and/or soil in which the licorice plant is grown. Licorice has other health warnings, too: it can raise blood pressure, and lower potassium levels in the blood. The warning is printed on the box for you to make an informed decision, but generally, it would require a very large consumption of licorice for anyone to experience any significant negative impact on their health.
