Sturgeon Moon by John Cutrone

  • 9500

This miniature book grew out of our work at the Shaker Press in 1997. It was a dry summer in Maine and our hero, Cordie, the flying woman, had an idea for fixing that. Features the Shakers' dogs, sheep, and a fun pop-up. 150 casebound copies were printed letterpress from handset historic metal types on brightly colored Fabriano Ingres paper at the Shaker Press at Chosen Land. 12 pages, 1998. And while this miniature may measure a mere 3 inches square, we still managed to squeeze in a sheep flying over a barn.

The regular bound edition is $95, but we also offer the book in unbound sheets for bookbinders who want to bind it their own way. $65 for the book in sheets.

Poor Jason Shaker has had a good enough summer, considering how it was so dry and how rain makes him so trembly. The pumpkins and the rutas, well, that's another story. What with dusty roads and several lengths of chain added to the well bucket... Then Cordie arrived, full of lightness and anticipation for the annual checkerberry harvest. "Bit dry," she noted.
