Pysanky are traditional hand painted eggs made during the Easter season throughout Eastern Europe, especially in Ukraine, Slovenia, Lithuania, Belarus, Poland, and Bulgaria. Instructor Lissie Bartlett will show you how use the wax-resist method, similar to batik, to draw intricate designs into eggs with hot beeswax using a specialized stylus. Following the workshop, your completed eggs will be varnished, drained of yolk, and made available for pick up the following weekend, your choice of Saturday or Sunday.

Please be sure to include your email address and mobile phone number when checking out, so we may send you workshop information and confirmation in advance of the workshop via email and text messaging.

Instructor Lissie Bartlett is a retired engineer who enjoys making art and helping artists with technology. While working at the Environmental Protection Agency in Atlanta, Georgia, she was an active volunteer in her children’s activities and took courses in graphic design and website development. Lissie was a great admirer of Lithuanian Easter Eggs made by her best friend in high school, so she was excited to learn Pysanky during a Girl Scout leader retreat. Over the next 20 years, Lissie hosted several egg making parties and workshops to share joy of this traditional craft.
