Cyanotype Cards (Individual)
Our friend Mary Elizabeth Nelson makes books and cyanotypes at her studio in Pennsylvania. These are cyanotype greeting cards of hers: Emmy brushes the cyanotype chemistry onto heavy watercolor papers, like Fabriano, Arches, or Somerset, arranges botanicals that she gathers on top of the chemistry, then exposes this in the sun before washing. The result is a lovely blue print. Cyanotype is one of the earliest photographic processes invented, dating back to the 1840s.
These cards measure 6" tall x 4 1/2" folded, and are blank inside for your own message. Each comes with a matching white envelope. Each is one of a kind; let us choose for you. The ones pictured here are representative samples. The cards you receive when you order will look very much like the ones shown here. If you have specific requests (perhaps you'd like an oak leaf image or a hellebore image), do let us know and we will do our very best to get you what you were hoping for.
