Maneki-neko Lucky Beckoning Cat Postcard/Miniprint: Letterpress, Linocut

  • 500

From our friends at Horse & Hare in Winchester, Virginia, comes a great card for anyone in need of good luck: it's a lucky beckoning maneki-neko cat, hand carved in linoleum and printed by hand on heavy chipboard. 5" x 7".  If using as a postcard, you'll need a first class letter stamp (not a postcard stamp, as this is a larger than standard postcard).

The maneki-neko is a common sight in Japan. The cat holds a koban coin in its right paw and beckons with the other as it brings good luck... especially in places of business, where the lucky cat is thought to help beckon folks in to shop.

Kerry & Neil Stavely are the proprietors of Horse & Hare. They print these cards on their 1909 Chandler & Price Old Style printing press.
