Monotype printing is a versatile painterly approach to printmaking that yields unique prints by transferring an inked surface onto paper. In this workshop we will explore printing monotypes by hand and with a printing press as each approach lends its own characteristics to the final print. To create our prints we will work with transparent inks and build up imagery through layers utilizing stencils, masks, mark making and textures. All levels are welcome; no experience necessary.

Instructor Kim Spivey is a South Florida artist with a BFA in printmaking and a MFA in painting from Florida Atlantic University. Spivey draws great inspiration from nature in her work and loves sharing the joy of art making through teaching.
